For the month of May, 75% of all donations will go to the Southwest Virginia Black Lung Association. The Association exists to help miners with black lung navigate the process of filing a claim for black lung disability benefits, and to advocate for the prevention and treatment of black lung disease.

To learn more about the state of black lung in Appalachia, listen to this episode from Inside Appalachia: www.wvpublic.org/post/clock-ticking-thousands-coal-miners-who-suffer-black-lung

It is the artist's hope that this song can be used at rallies and performances to spread the word about the needs of miners and their families living with black lung in Appalachia.

Lyrics by Sara Lynch-Thomason

CHORUS:
Now give to us (to us)
What we demand (we demand)
We are breathing (breathing)
As best we can (Best we can)

We have tunneled (tunneled)
Broken stone (broken stone)
Just to warm your (warm your)
Your house and home (house and home)

D.C. to New York (New York)
Our dusty hands (dusty hands)
They have lit your (lit your)
Factories and plants (factories and plants)

We have listened (listened)
And heard the roar (heard the roar)
Of that fire (fire)
In the hole ( in the hole)

We have worked hard (worked hard)
Without sunlight (without sunlight)
Traded daytime (daytime)
For the night (for the night)

We have told you (told you)
Now you know (now you know)
What we have given (given)
What you owe. (What you owe)
